Bernie and Warren On the Trail for Hillary

Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders hit Ohio this past weekend campaigning for Hillary.  Both appealed to millennials by talking about debt free higher education and attempted to persuade young people to get out and vote in favor of Hillary.

Both Warren and Sanders attacked Trump’s campaign for being hate-filled and bigoted.

Jacqueline Alemany, a writer for CBS News posted an article about it at 7:15 pm today and quoted Warren saying ““Trump has more support from Aryan nation and the Ku Klux Klan than he does the leadership of the Republican Party,” Warren said during an appearance at Cleveland State University. “For years, Trump has led the charge on the birther movement, and only when his handlers tied him down and made him, did he finally admit that it wasn’t true. What kind of a man that does that? A man with a dark and ugly soul, a man who will never be president.””

Her scathing remarks are an attempt to convince millennials that they should be voting for Hillary.  Many young people who supported Bernie for the presidency do not want to vote for Trump but they don’t want to vote for Hillary either.  In that statement, Warren definitely was appealing to those who were on the fence about Hillary.  According to Warren, Hillary would clearly be the “lesser evil.”

Ms. Jacqueline Alemany provides several quotes from students in her article and the one that struck me the most was this. “Tommy Watral, a 19 year-old student at Kent State University from Mentor, Ohio who served as a delegate for Sanders to the Democratic Convention, flatly stated that he was voting for Clinton because she was the nominee and the alternative to Trump. “That’s just how it is,” he said.”

Many feel that the reason they are going to vote for Hillary Clinton is simply because she “isn’t Trump.”  However, with Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and the Obamas campaigning on her behalf she may be able to win the presidency.
